Circa 1986, U.S.A. Home Video (which generally brought a lot of made-for-TV movies to video rental stores) released a series of tapes featuring action-exploitation goddess Sybil Danning. Sybil Danning’s Adventure Video presented a lot of low-budget action-adventure films, which often featured wraparound segments of the actress introducing the films, costumed appropriately for whatever genre the tape belonged to (ie- dressed as a commando, or ninja).
There were approximately two dozen separate titles released under this banner, with a little bit of everything: ninjas, Eurocrime, Filipino action, WIP, and of all things, some TV titles from the ITC catalog (including two of the Space: 1999 “movies” that were culled together from TV episodes).
Here is a list of known titles. Assault with a Deadly Weapon; Blood and Guts; The Brave Bunch; Dawn of Victory; Fast Money; Fireback; Fist of Fear, Touch of Death; The Four Musketeers; The Human Factor; Kill The Ninja; Killing Machine; A Man Called Rage; Mean Frank and Crazy Tony; Ninja Warriors; Pay Or Die; Rush; The Saint, Volume 1 (Simon And Delilah); The Saint, Volume 2 (A Double In Diamonds); Seven; Space 1999: Alien Attack; Space 1999: Journey Through the Black Sun; The Three Musketeers; Torpedo Attack; Women in Cell Block 7.
These are collectible today for video nuts, as they were released in the good old “big box” format, and therefore are hard to find in good condition, as they were often cut down to fit into clamshell cases.
There are still a few of them not represented below. Hopefully we can add them soon.
